a) RESEARCH
Topic: Optimization of CORBA ORBs for the use in real time applications
Details: Have installed & configured CORBA (Tao) on Unix & NT and CORBA (Orbix) on Unix. Have developed OO software to test the relative performance of Java and CORBA. Presently working with NORTEL for the possibility of applying this optimized CORBA and Java RMI to ATM switches.

b) BUILDING GUI: Also building a GUI for precedence relationships of an application using Java.

Was responsible for leading the Systems and Computer department consisting of 3 engineers and 3 technicians
 

Developed procedures for the management of the department and bench-marking the performance of each individual

Designed & maintained a complete MIS system for Kohinoor Edible Oils using Visual Basic, MS Access , and RS 232 protocols. The system downloads real time data from appropriate sources and then updates the relevant DataBase Management System accordingly.

Designed, installed, configured and maintained a Novell 3.11 based network consisting of 180 computers. Installed and maintained a MIPs 4400 (of Silicon Graphics) based network with UNIX as the operating system with 3 industrial knitting machines as the clients

Designed a complete software system using Turbo C++ which monitors an industrial process by the graphical display of control parameters (pressure and temperature) and controls them according to their respective set-points fed using PID feedback loop.

Worked on AutoLISP for the AutoCad automation for engineering designing purposes with Visual Basic providing the front end to the user. This project employed ActiveX and DDE technology.

Research Projects

 Worked on a research project on "Resources optimization in an industrial process". Developed algorithms for the optimized utilization of the available resources (man, machine, raw materials) . Also worked on the project management & scheduling (with critical factor both time and money)

Designed and manufactured a complete 8051 based computer with on-line operating system

Currently working on the optimization of CORBA ORBs and JAVA RMIs so that they may be applied to real time applications such as ATM Switches
